The fight happened on Sunday during the Arba’een symbolic walk, which IMN members were witnessing, in the Wuse district of the federal capital territory (FCT).
The FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, stated in a statement that two officers were slain by members of the organisation who attacked them.
The police representative went on to say that following the incident, three cops were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
“The FCT police command wishes to confirm an unprovoked attack at Wuse Junction by traffic light on some personnel of the Nigeria Police Force attached to FCT command by the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as the ‘Shi’ite’ group, where two (2) police personnel were killed, three (3) left unconscious in the hospital, and three (3) Police patrol vehicles set ablaze,” the statement reads.
“The prohibited group used machetes, knives and homemade explosives in bottles filled with kerosene to launch an unprovoked attack on the police checkpoint.”
Adeh said that multiple arrests had been made and that things had returned to normal in the region.
‘NUMEROUS MEMBERS KILLED’
The IMN spokesperson, Sidi Mainasara, claimed in a statement that during the parade, police killed “numberous members” of the group.

Numerous mourners were slain and injured by the police when they attempted to disperse the Arbaeen Trek, according to the statement.
“Security personnel are currently occupied with apprehending the mourners of Arbaeen Trek.”Critically injured patients are being treated by medical professionals, and information about the dead, injured, and arrested will be provided to the media when it becomes available.
“We have searched every participant before the walk begins to make sure there hasn’t been any infiltration, and the program will conclude on time.
“The Arbeen Trek, which took place at the Masaka and Zuba axis yesterday, concluded amicably and effectively.”
