In an interview with News Central TV on Friday, Nigerian activist and executive director of the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre Okechukwu Nwanguma argued that President Bola Tinubu is not leading the country in the best interests of its citizens.
Nwanguma maintained that President Tinubu has been growing ministries, appointing his friends to new government posts, and raising government wages in spite of his public declarations that he will cut spending.
He drew attention to the reality that while Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet, government officials have been enjoying generous salaries. “President Tinubu claims to be cutting expenses, but in reality, he is growing ministries and giving his allies additional jobs.
“He had a serious credibility issue when he took office and has done nothing to fix it.
Government employees are obligingly collecting enormous monthly salaries, demonstrating their lack of desire in helping the public good. It ultimately comes down to “my turn.”
“Tinubu is just thinking about how to help himself and his allies.
He doesn’t appear to care to interact with Nigerians who are protesting oppression and poor administration because of this. Nwanguma stated, “He cares more about his personal interests than good government.
