The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has arrested some tailors in Kano State who are suspected of mass printing the Russian flag. The DSS announced on Monday that several of the sponsors had also been detained. “The DSS can confirm that Adaramoye Michael (aka Michael Lenin) is not in its custody,” the agency stated on its X account. “Meanwhile, the Service nabbed three tailors in Kano State who were involved for fabricating Russian flags for distribution in the area. Some of their sponsors have also been selected. “An investigation is ongoing.”
The move followed some #EndBadGovernance demonstrators hoisting Russian flags in various northern regions. It is unknown why the demonstrators are holding the flags. Previously, police in Nasarawa State arrested many people suspected of mass-producing the flags. Demonstrators were seen hoisting the flag, screaming Hausa songs, and racing through the streets in protest.
Protesters Defy Plea, Loot Mars Rally The newest round of protests occurred after President Bola Tinubu addressed the country, imploring demonstrators to disperse. Tinubu said he heard the demonstrators “loud and clear” and urged them to end the marches, which began in response to Nigeria’s terrible economic conditions.
Nigeria’s inflation rate has hit 34%, putting the cost of living beyond millions. However, Tinubu is urging patience, claiming that his changes would finally produce dividends. Undeterred, the protestors renewed their rallies in several parts of the country, claiming that the administration has not answered their requests. Security forces had enforced curfews in various towns and states in response to the theft and destruction that accompanied the protests, particularly in Nigeria’s northern region.
