On Tuesday, Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor qualified for the women’s long jump final at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
This is the first time three Nigerian women have made it to the final in Olympic history.
Brume, an Olympic bronze medallist, recovered from a difficult start that left her in ninth place to leap 6.7 metres in her final try, securing automatic qualification for the final.
Ruth Usoro also made headlines with a remarkable jump of 6.76 metres, while Prestina Ochonogor followed soon behind with a leap of 6.65 metres, ensuring that all three competitors advanced to the final.
On Thursday, the trio will compete for podium finishes among 12 other competitors, preparing for what promises to be an exciting competition.
