There is no order yet on the N70,000 minimum wage for corps members – NYSC.
The National Youth Service Corps has disputed a social media allegation claiming that corps members’ bank accounts are being modified to accommodate the N70,000 new national minimum salary.
The corps stated that no direction has been granted by the relevant authority to begin paying the N70,000 minimum wage to corps members or to upgrade their accounts.
According to a statement made on Saturday by the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the report is deceptive and completely incorrect.
The NYSC, as a result, warned corps members to refrain from allowing mischief makers who intend to mislead Nigerians to continue to use their intellect.
The statement said, “The National Youth Service Corps management has been alerted to incorrect information circulating in the media regarding the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage to corps members and the requirement to upgrade their accounts. This is a complete lie that contradicts the truth.Corps members, parents, and the general public should be aware that no direction has been received from the relevant government sector in charge of wage concerns.
“As a result, the NYSC is unable to provide any information on this matter. Corps members are already aware of the allowed channel and form of communication in the scheme, and should disregard the directive appropriately.
“The NYSC, by this release, admonishes corps members to refrain from allowing mischief makers who intend to mislead Nigerians to continue to prey on their intelligence.
“Bloggers and social media influencers are warned to stop issuing statements that concern the management of National Youth Service Corps without authorisation.”
