Shaibu claimed that Obaseki lacks the financial means and political experience to run in the 2016 election during an interview on Channels TV’s “Politics Today.”
“We made Obaseki governor,” stated Shaibu. Obaseki lacked the financial resources to run for office and was not a politician.
“It took Oshiomhole three months to convince some of our supporters and me to support Obaseki,” he said, attributing the victory to Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
Declaring, “We brought our resources and our friends to bring money and we brought our political capital to make him governor,” Shaibu emphasised that he and others had contributed their resources and political capital to Obaseki’s appointment as governor.
Additionally, he stated, “I made him; he did not make me.” Since he wasn’t a politician, I was asked to be his deputy in order to provide political value.
According to Shaibu’s remarks, Obaseki’s 2016 win was mostly made possible by the resources and assistance of other people, including Senator Oshiomhole and himself.
