The 22-state, 300-location marathon bible reading this year is scheduled to take place from Monday through Friday, August 26–30.
Pastor Samuel Sanusi, the general secretary of the Bible Society of Nigeria, made this revelation on Sunday during the 2024 Marathon Bible Reading’s opening ceremony at Christ Anglican Church in Elere-Agege, Lagos.
Sanusi, the GS, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, stated that the program, which would be from 9 am to 5 pm daily, was aimed at encouraging Christians irrespective of denomination, profession, age, or sex to read the Bible. Sanusi was represented by the Assistant General Secretary, Corporate Development, BSN, Mr. Yemi Olayiwola.
We exhort our leaders to seek God’s assistance and to have the guts to lead with a fear of God. Let’s instill in them the importance of reading the Bible every day.
“God will undoubtedly be pleased with our country and heal our land if Nigerians read their bibles on a daily basis, instill biblical virtues, and live according to God’s will,” he said.
Additionally, the scriptures contain the answers to Nigeria’s problems, according to Venerable Israel Owoyele, the Vicar of the Christ Anglican Church.
“The Torah has the answer to our country’s problems. God typically sends a leader to punish the nation of Israel whenever they stray from His ways. Furthermore, God would always pardon them and mend their land whenever they repent.
“I anticipate that people will be inspired to read the Bible more following this marathon reading. And they’ll become used to living by it. “The scripture is a priceless gem,” he said.
