An interim order has been imposed by an Ogun State High Court, preventing a scheduled celebration honouring the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
This was revealed by the deceased family’s legal team in a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, the family’s agent, and obtained only by PUNCH Metro on Sunday.
Odumosu mentioned that the ruling of the court, rendered on Thursday by Justice Osunfisan, was in response to a motion submitted by Joseph Aloba, the late Mohbad’s father, who was represented by Emmanuel Oroko.
The ‘Sing for Mohbad and Win’ event, which is slated to take place in the state on September 12–14, 2024, or in any other location, was expressly targeted by the injunction, according to the statement.
The respondent organised an event titled “Sing for Mohbad and Win,” which was scheduled to take place on September 12, 13, and 14, 2024, at the Aqua Lounge or any other location, but it was ordered by Justice Osunfisan in the motion with suit number HCT/871/2024, that an order of interim injunction be granted restraining the respondent, whether by himself, servants, agents, assigns, or otherwise however called, from holding any of these events until the outcome of the originating motion for interlocutory injunction, dated and filed on September 6, 2024. Part of the announcement said, “The order of interim injunction hereby granted today, September 12, 2024, is to last for seven days following the provision of the Rules of Court.”
The Aloba family, who filed the lawsuit, had earlier pleaded with people to honour their time of loss and not turn the event into a commercial event by taking advantage of their late son’s kindness.
However, according to Odumosu, the case was scheduled to come back before the court on October 7, 2024, to hear the initial application for an interlocutory injunction.
PUNK Prior to the late singer’s first anniversary, Metro revealed that the singer’s family had voiced concerns about potential commercial use of Mohbad’s legacy by some persons and groups.
The family’s suggestion to move was a request for them to get permission before implementing such a plan.
