Kenneth Okonkwo, the former spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, announced his resignation a few hours ago. Since then, the party’s leadership has referred to him as one of its moles.
Due to ongoing internal conflict and a leadership crisis that threatened to split the party, Okonkwo left the LP on Sunday.
The lawyer turned Nollywood star added that he no longer trusted Peter Obi, the LP presidential flag-bearer, to save Nigeria.
He thinks that Nigeria requires a strong leader who has the selflessness necessary to ensure victory.
In response, LP National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh stated that none of their supporters were shocked by Okonkwo’s exit from the party because they always knew he was a mole within their ranks.
Ifoh added that Okonkwo’s unwarranted and regrettable attack on his former ally, Obi, was regrettable.
“We weren’t surprised by Kenneth Okonkwo’s resignation from the Labour Party,” he stated. Additionally, we believe that his criticism of Peter Obi, the leader of the party, is regrettable. We see that his attention-seeking behaviour has no boundaries, therefore we will continue to degrade him with no response.
“Doyin Okupe, the former director general of the party’s presidential campaign organisation, recently quit and joined the APC. A former deputy director general of the group that organised the presidential campaign also left and joined the APC just last week. It’s Mr. Okonkwo’s time today. He was a former APC member who snuck into the presidential race, and we already know where he is going.
It goes without saying that Nigeria is not short of political clowns and scammers whose stomachs are as big as their gods. The Labour Party is not at all offended by his decision to move on, and we actually wish him luck in all of his future pursuits, be they acting, practicing law, politics, or something else entirely. It is also important to emphasise that the party is aware of a few other individuals who are being used as moles, who are now causing problems within the party and have made failed attempts to take over the party for the benefit of their employers. We implore them to move quickly and take the necessary action before they are exposed and forced to leave the celebration.
“In the 2027 presidential election, the Labour Party will continue to support Peter Obi as its leader and front-runner, and we have no intention of changing our opinions. Attacks orchestrated by others would not in any way lessen the faith that Nigerians, especially the country’s youth and Obidients, have in him. We are aware that he will enable the creation of a new Nigeria. Nigerians made their voices heard in 2023, and by 2027, they will be heard much more.
