Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu and other key locations have been overrun by soldiers in anticipation of the August 1st statewide hunger protest.
This is in response to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing’s announcement that Igbo youths will not take part in the August 1–10, 2024, rally.
Nonetheless, our eyewitness saw a lot of military personnel moving throughout the city of Enugu, particularly members of the Nigerian Army.
Several military personnel were positioned with weapons at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Junction along the old Abakaliki-Emene road. Additionally, an armoured personnel carrier mounted with surveillance cameras was observed at the Abakpa Junction and New Heaven Junction along the Enugu-Abakaliki road.
