On Monday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde approved a hazard allowance for State Road Traffic Management Authority officials, effective Thursday, August 1, 2024.
He made the statement at the passing-out procession of 500 freshly recruited OYRTMA officers/men and the inauguration of its marshals at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iseyin.
The governor also appointed Olubunmi Oni as Head of Service, two permanent secretaries, G.O Oyedele for General Administration and Akeem Salami for Cabinet and Special Services, as well as 47 Marshals.
According to the governor, the move will allow people to contribute their fair share to the state’s development by providing diligent and dedicated service.
“As we have done for every employee since taking office in 2019, we as an administration will continue to put your welfare first.”You requested a hazard allowance, and I concur that you encounter a significant number of risks. There are many risks associated with the work you have been asked to perform. As a result, your hazard allowance has been authorised and will start on August 1, 2024. He said, “I want to thank you and wish you well for the work you are doing for our state.
Therefore, the governor tasked them with not focussing on unfairly enriching oneself or misallocating their priorities.
Additionally, he gave the new OYRTMA Marshals orders to work efficiently and completely.
“We are there at the 500 newly recruited OYRTMA officers’ passing-out procession today. We are here to demonstrate the significance of this exercise to our administration. Therefore, the purpose of this recruiting is to increase OYRTMA’s capability, since an agency that is stronger supports the state’s legal system.
“We aspire to a state in which everyone abides by the law, particularly the traffic laws. In order to accomplish this, we must educate the public and uphold the law. We established the Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socio-Economic Development to raise awareness among our people. To help our people grasp the law, they will be travelling about,” he continued.
The governor expressed gratitude to the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division for working with OYRTMA to train the new hires.
