The sequel to ‘The Entertainer’ was released on August 16.
In a statement, the singer stated that the original album exemplified his individuality as an artist.
He also defined the sequel as an upgraded iOS that reflects his artistic development.
“At the time, ‘The Entertainer’ was the best fit for me. I always told folks I wasn’t a musician. I am a performer. Listening to that music, you’ll notice that it embodies everything I believe in,” the statement continues.
“Fast forward to now, especially since I am celebrating my 20th anniversary, I decided to go back and present what I am best known for to the world.” It’s similar to an updated iOS. I’m presenting “The Entertainer: D’Sequel.”
The sequel includes collaborations from Awilo Longomba, Wyclef Jean, Akon, Phyno, Timaya, Kayswitch, and Youssou N’Dour.
Regarding the collaborations, D’Banj stated that some of these artists inspired him when he was first starting out in music.
He praised Wyclef Jean as a “mentor and supporter of the culture” who has worked with African artists throughout the years.
In July, D’Banj released ‘Worthy’, the album’s ninth single, which featured Grammy-winning Senegalese vocalist Youssou N’Dour and Chechi Sarai.
This follows the earlier releases of ‘Since O4’ and ‘Koko’, both of which appear in the sequel.
D’Banj was born Oladapo Oyebanjo and rose to stardom with his debut album, ‘No Long Thing’, in 2005.
Over the years, he has garnered various prizes and acclaim for his abilities.
