The governor of Kano State, Kabir Yusuf, recently opened the renovated Dambatta international cattle market, which was funded by the Islamic Development Bank and the state government’s Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project. The market is valued at millions of naira.
Sanusi Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.
The announcement said as follows: “The five other improved markets are the cattle markets at Tsanyawa, Falgore, Doguwa, and Wudil, respectively, and the Dambatta livestock market.
The state government has supplied loading ramps, water facilities, office space for market information, security posts, veterinary services infrastructure, public restrooms, and electricity to enable trading even during nighttime. These amenities are available in each of the five markets.
According to him, the program aims to modernise the livestock value chain, particularly in the areas of transport logistics, in order to lower mortality and enhance environmental quality.
In addition, the governor stated that the cattle trade has been a major industry in the state, sustaining the livelihoods of millions of people and lowering poverty along the whole agricultural value chain.
In response, the Danbatta community’s Special Advisor on Publicity, Jamilu Danbatta, stated that the community would always be appreciative of the governor’s efforts to advance the region’s economic goal.
