Tolu Bankole, a member of the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee, commended President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Ayuba Gufwan as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities. His praise comes just 24 hours after the president announced the appointment of the polio survivor and founder of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre. Bankole, the ruling party’s national leader in charge of dealing with PWD issues, said in an Abuja statement on Wednesday that he looks forward to working with them. According to the NWC member, Gufwan’s appointment reflected his steadfast dedication and excellent achievements to the handicap community.
He stated, “With extensive experience as Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos, as well as his academic credentials, Gufwan is uniquely qualified to lead the Commission.”
His leadership has been vital in campaigning for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities, and his appointment promises more progress in this important field. “This appointment not only recognises Gufwan’s personal and professional achievements, but also represents a big step forward for the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities. His leadership is intended to accelerate progress in the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities across the country.”
He said, “I’d also like to take this occasion to thank President Bola Tinubu for his constant interventions and support for people with disabilities. His commitment to inclusivity and empowerment has been demonstrated through a variety of initiatives, and this appointment demonstrates his determination to ensure that the needs and rights of people with disabilities are prioritised. “I am looking forward to working with Gufwan to guarantee that the rights and needs of people with disabilities are adequately met. We are optimistic that his term will result in significant positive changes for the Commission and the communities it serves. We wish him well as he begins this crucial national service.”
