A former police officer who drugged and raped more than a dozen women over a brutal 13-year crime spree has been handed the heaviest ever prison sentence for a convicted rapist in Western Australia.
Adrian Moore, 52, was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 years in prison for drugging and raping 13 different women over the course of a depraved 13-year rampage.
Moore was a serving police officer when he attacked 12 of the women and was found guilty of 87 different sex crimes in a chilling trial in October, where all 13 women who gave evidence sat through video recordings taken by Moore of the abuse.
Judge Alan Troy spent almost two hours going into disturbing detail about Moore’s crimes as his victims broke down in tears, before confirming he would be jailed for 30 years, with a non-parole period of 28 years.
Moore was seen being led passively away following his sentencing.
Judge Troy said Moore’s crimes were ‘unprecedented’ in Western Australia and nationwide.
Moore was found guilty on every charge on October 17 of drugging and raping 13 women he met on dating apps between 2007 and 2018, with the jury delivering their verdict in just six hours.
During the October trial in the Perth District Court, the judge said that Moore had used ‘unprecedented sadism’ in a string of degrading sex acts on his victims.
These included urinating in their mouths, making them perform sexual acts on their pets, and hitting them.
All 13 women gave evidence at the trial and together with the jury watched video recordings of the abuse Moore had recorded.
The court heard the former senior officer mostly used online dating apps to find his victims, and exploited his reputation as a police officer – having once been nominated for officer of the year – to gain his victims’ trust.
He also used a computer system to look up the details of some of his victims.
The first report of Moore’s long list of crimes came from a victim who was also another police officer, after she made a complaint to WA Police’s internal affairs unit.
Moore was arrested at his home in the south-eastern Perth suburb of Kelmscott in 2018.
During a raid of his home police found a document titled ‘Girls I’ve F***ed 2016,’ which included names and locations, what he had done with the victims, and a score for each.
